Our application process has changed: there are no forms to fill out or deadlines now.
Please send your invitations to discover your performances to the following address: programmation@selectionsuisse.ch
For our SCH25 selection, we must be able, in principle, to see your shows on tour before the end of December 2024.

Only Switzerland-based productions can apply. Dance, theatre or performance pieces must be understandable for a French-speaking audience and cannot exceed a 7-people team on tour. In order to be able to offer support to more companies and artists, we will give priority to those who haven’t yet been programed.

Thank you for your interest in the Sélection suisse en Avignon !

Performing with SCH

The proposed piece must be fit to perform in the specific conditions of the OFF Avignon Festival, with :

  • Small stages, and productions that can be performed in theatres with low ceilings
  • A 30-minute set up/clearing time that you’ll share with the company who performs immediately before and after you
  • A lighting plan that is adapted to the theatres and a limited number of spotlights (between 35 and 50, depending on the theatre)
  • Sets that don’t require too much storing space
  • Shared green rooms and dressing rooms with the other companies performing in that theatre
  • Rehearsal schedules limited to the allotted slots before the festival

Producers must be aware that presenting their piece in the Sélection suisse en Avignon program might imply adapting it to fit the conditions of performance of the OFF festival and the venues, which are likely to change from one year to the next (La Manufacture, le 11 • Avignon, le Théâtre du Train Bleu, Les Hivernales – CDCN, le festival Le Totem – Maison du théâtre pour enfants, la Collection Lambert et la Chartreuse de Villeneuve lez Avignon…).

We remind you that these venues are not just service providers but that we have a partnership with them: these theatres take an active role in the process of selecting shows according to their artistic identity.

Commitments

What we expect from you

If you are invited to join the Sélection suisse en Avignon, your company must :

  • Be physically present in Avignon for the three-week run (or the 10-day run if you are programmed during the Hivernales – CDCN), and be available a few days before the festival for the preparations, setup and rehearsals of the show
  • Perform the show daily at potentially non-conventional times, with only one day off in the week
  • Keep the selected piece in your repertory for the two years following its presentation in the Avignon Festival. The Avignon Festival is in July, so your commitment will be for the next season, or the one after that.
  • Actively promote the show with the public, the press and theatre professionals in the very competitive climate of the OFF Festival (more than 1500 shows in 2022)
  • Cooperate with all the members of the Sélection suisse en Avignon team and the other participants in the project
  • Have a head of diffusion either on staff or hired specially to work before and after the Festival with the Sélection suisse en Avignon team and who will then take care of the follow-up diffusion and post-Festival programing.

What you can expect from us

  • We will take care of finding time slots and coordinate with the local venue for the box office and ticket sales
  • We will provide the technical support for the show (as the equipment in the venues is limited) and transportation for your sets
  • We will finance your communication, take care of visuals and strategy
  • We will compensate the company for the costs of being in Avignon (wages, transportation, housing and ordinary expenses for the artistic, technical and administrative staff)
  • Our staff will be at your disposal – our head of diffusion, our press agent, our technical director and an agent will be mandated to hand out flyers.
  • Our permanent staff (our director and administrator) will coordinate with the company before, during and after the Festival, as well as any other additional staff we hire.
