A child witch, a mad woman, a grotesque, vulnerable character… Léa Katharina Meier borrows from all these “borderline” figures to reveal another reality, that of a femininity distorted by the intimate and social violence of a world obsessed with cleanliness. Sullying, shame and repression are the motifs that emerge in this solo performance, in which the artist metaphorically reappropriates “what has been cleansed from her sensitive, corporeal space”. A singular visual artist, author and performer, the Vevey-born artist, who studied at the Berne and Geneva art schools, takes on ridicule through dance, clowning, textile art, drawing and installation to rediscover, in a jubilant movement, a liberated subjectivity. Let’s follow Meier back into the childlike world of fairy tales so we can open wide the door to the imaginary and finally breathe.
