The cycle of the seasons, the passage between generations, the circle of life – these are the themes explored show after show by Théâtre l’Articule, particularly in Petites variations. As playful as they are pared-down, these short, technically light forms, which can be installed anywhere, evoke the essential bonds forged between grandparents and grandchildren, and the way they shape the individual’s relationship with the world. Time and the relationship with others are at the heart of these two tableaux, as they are essential to the approach of Fatna Djahra’s company, which is aimed at very young audiences. Two duos of actresses, carefully selected objects, a simple narrative and a dialogue between different stage disciplines: these are the ingredients of l’Articule, which has been combining circus and object theater since it was first created. Time to grow, time to share and, since this is theater, time to use your imagination !
