Raised by a philosopher father, trained in the Freiburg Conservatory, Cours Florent and the Lausanne Conservatory (SPAD), Muriel Imbach turned to stage directing in the early 2000’s. She has worked as an assistant and collaborator to various artists such as Denis Maillefer, Philippe Saire, Nicole Seiler or Oskar Gomez Mata before creating Compagnie La Bocca della Luna in 2004. In 2013, she discovered philosophy for children and trained in that discipline in the University of Laval in Canada. Imbach has been presenting original shows combining theatre and philosophy for over ten years. In 2014, she created Le Grand Pourquoi, her first family-friendly show. Bleu pour les oranges, rose pour les éléphants (2016) tackles gender issues in a playful way, and Les Tactiques du Tic Tac (2019) is a poetic investigation on time. À l’envers, à l’endroit was created in 2019 for the festival Les Créatives, and it was included in the 2021 edition of Sélection Suisse en Avignon. It has been touring ever since. In 2020, she created Arborescence programmée, a show for schoolchildren. In January 2023, her piece Le Nom des choses was created as a joyful ode to language and imagination. Imbach is associated artist with Usine à Gaz in Nyon (2021-24).
