What if, after riding their wildest fancies time and time again, the three artists of the Old masters collective embarked on a sweet escape in the body of a big blue horse? In a carefully composed landscape of shapes and colors, this fantastical animal turns out to be a painting horse. A strange presence, wild and peaceful, which invites us to free our gaze, and form a sensitive relationship with the world, letting our creativity run free. A totem, beautiful like a carnival, under which three humans strive to tune in to their various rhythms, their movements, and, with more difficulty, their discourse. As autonomous entities, heads, trunks and tails sometimes split off and disappear in the wings. Other times, bodies lay down their masks and start having pointless debates. When the world seems to have gone astray, the horse interrogates our humanity from its joyful height. There is no emphasis in this whimsical and poetic gesture, which, like all Old masters pieces, associates bodies, objects, images, texts, music and light as one endeavor. For the past ten years, Sarah André, Marius Schaffter and Jérôme Stünzi have been inventing visual and theatrical forms together, to share a new way of imagining the world. It is now our turn to shift our perspective and to adopt equine wisdom.
