Two men are caught in an irresistible embrace. They brush past each other, tease each other, lose balance and hold each other in slow motion, as in a scene from a romance, before pulling apart and engaging in a brutal struggle. From powdery pink to cold blue, and through the acid shower of a laser, light accompanies movement in this toxic and magnetic pas de deux – while sound is haunted by ghost materials. For Bast Hippocrate, embrace is a dance as much as it is the space of an intimate and political interrogation on love, control and domination. It is about what passion does to bodies and beings, and how it transforms our identities: these are questions which animate Joyaux lourdement sous-estimés.
Ever since he created his first pieces, the dancer, who shares the stage with William Cardoso in this piece, has been exploring the meanders of his own history in close connection with the audience, in order to open new leads of investigation. A wonderful performer, who was seen in Ouverture by Géraldine Chollet during SCH24, Bast Hippocrate develops a strong choreographic signature.

The performances on the 16th and 17th are presented in collaboration with Programme .Q (as Queer)
